Trainees in Radiology and Imaging Sciences Research

Radiology and Imaging Sciences research is a fantastic place for undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs to gain practical experience for their careers. In imaging sciences, many fields come together: math, physics, computer science, engineering, and medicine. There are endless possibilities for research projects, all of which have a practical goal of improving medical science.
Many of our labs are looking for motivated students at all levels! If you are pursuing Bioengineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, math, physics, or a related field, we'd love to hear from you. Contact lab heads directly by browsing through our research lab pages.
Trainee News
Joshua Marchant Accepted to Prestigious PhD Program
Congratulations to Joshua Marchant, a recent B.S. graduate from the Physics department and trainee of Dennis Parker, PhD, who has been accepted to a joint Harvard-MIT PhD program: the Health Sciences and Technology Medical Engineering Medical Physics program. He will continue his work in MRI and biophysics.

Trainee Kudos
Congratulations to Anika D’Souza and Lana Hua for receiving Undergraduate Research Opportunity Awards for Fall 2023.

Michael Malmberg, Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. Candidate, has published a recent paper Validation of single reference variable flip angle (SR‐VFA) dynamic T1 mapping with T2* correction using a novel rotating phantom - Malmberg - Magnetic Resonance in Medicine - Wiley Online Library

Congratulations to Johnathan Le, whose Ph.D. dissertation has been chosen as one of two Price College of Engineering Outstanding Dissertations for 2024. Dr. Johnathan Le has exemplified high standards of academic excellence, intellectual rigor, and innovative research during his Ph.D. in Biomedical engineering. John's dissertation, titled "Improved Cardiac Perfusion and T1 Mapping in Magnetic Resonance Imaging" makes a significant contribution to cardiac MRI, offering new advancements to existing imaging technology. Through meticulous research, creative problem-solving, and perseverance, John has published four first-authored journal papers in top-tier journals. Beyond his outstanding research, John has been an integral part of mentoring summer interns working on cardiac MRI projects. We have no doubt that John's future contributions will continue to shape the field of cardiac MR. Congratulations to Dr. Johnathan Le on this well-deserved honor!

What's in like being a trainee with us?
One of the best things about being a trainee in Radiology and Imaging Sciences is the type of work we do and the opportunities available to you. Read our profile of a graduate student named Lorne Hofstetter to understand what we mean.
