Megan Mills, MD, Appointed Section Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging

Megan Mills, MD, has been appointed Section Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging, starting July 1, 2018.

Dr. Mills is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Imaging Sciences. She completed medical school and residency at the University of Utah, followed by musculoskeletal fellowship at the University of Colorado before joining the faculty at the University of Utah. Dr. Mills has been an outstanding MSK radiologist and effective leader in the department. She has collaborated with faculty in the MSK section to publish educational journals, texts, and exhibits. The group has received four national education awards in two years for their exhibits at the RSNA and Society of Skeletal Radiology meetings. In addition to her subspecialty interests, she has been able to pursue her passion for advancing radiology education by serving as the co-director of radiology medical student education before transitioning to the role of associate radiology residency program director. Dr. Mills hopes to shape the future of education through investigational research. She helped create and chair the multi-disciplinary perceptual imaging interest research group. She recently received an RSNA Educator Grant and is planning to expand the section’s educational and investigational research efforts.

hanrahan-profile2-web.jpgWe are extremely grateful for Dr. Chris Hanrahan’s years of work as a section chief of MSK imaging. He took this responsibility while the section was in transition from the previous section leadership. He managed years of understaffing, expanding clinical services at University Hospital and the University Orthopaedic Center, and continued his enthusiasm to teach residents and fellows. He was named as the Teacher of the Year by graduating residents in 2018. We are deeply grateful for his work. His transition out of the chair position will allow him to focus on his ongoing and new research projects and to assist MSK fellowship program.
