Osteoarthritis of the elbow joint is most commonly due to trauma, including repetitive microtrauma, characterized by joint space narrowing and osteophyte formation.
FINDINGS:
Moderate ulnohumeral and radiocapitellar joint space narrowing with osteophyte formation and subchondral cystic change at the olecranon. Elbow alignment is maintained. No effusion.
IMPRESSION:
Moderate elbow joint osteoarthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis of the elbow joint is characterized by effusion, diffuse joint space narrowing, joint subluxation, and periarticular erosions.
FINDINGS:
Marked erosive change of the elbow joint with bony remodeling and intra-articular bodies. Associated posterior subluxation of the ulna, moderate joint effusion, and soft tissue swelling.
IMPRESSION:
Severe sequela of rheumatoid arthritis of the elbow.

Soft tissue swelling overlying the olecranon may indicate olecranon bursitis.
